Bio:Mehdi received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Sharif University of Technology in 2004. He joined UC Berkeley as a graduate student in 2008 and received his M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley in 2009. He is currently a PhD Candidate in Mechanical Engineering department of University of California, Berkeley. Since 2008, He has been working on dynamic systems modeling and validation, and Optimal Control theory with applications in Zero-Energy Buildings HVAC model-based optimal control design under the supervision of Professor Alberto Sangiovanni-Vincentelli.

He was awarded as the Outstanding Preliminary Examinee in August 2009 with 1st rank in Controls, Dynamics & Heat Transfer at UC Berkeley.

He ranked 1st among more than 350,000 competitors in National Entrance Exam of Azad Universities and also ranked 22nd among more than 400,000 competitors in National Entrance Exam of Universities in Iran in 2004.
